Getting to the Institute

By public transport

Bus 694 via main station and "S Babelsberg" runs every 20 minutes with closest stop "Spindelstraße", about 1 km walking distance from AIP. Suburban S-Bahn S7 via Berlin and Potsdam main stations stops at "S Babelsberg", about 1.6 km from AIP.

Tickets are available from vending machines within buses and trams, and at S-Bahn stations before boarding the train. AIP is within "Potsdam AB" fare zone, and, coming from Berlin, within "Berlin ABC" fare zone. Payment can usually be made contactlessly, by credit or debit card, or in cash.

For connections and more ticketing options, check the website of the VBB transport authority.

By car
The main entrance is located on the road "Allee nach Glienicke" (and a side entrance is at the postal address "An der Sternwarte"). For navigation, use the address "Allee nach Glienicke 47, 14482 Potsdam" and follow the street another 100m, until you see the entrance gate on the right hand side.

From motorway A115, exit Potsdam-Babelsberg and follow the Nuthe-Expressway to the exit Friedrich-List-Straße. There, turn right into the road "Alt Nowawes“ and go straight uphill until the topmost location.

By own steam
AIP can be reached by a beautiful walk along lakesides and through Park Babelsberg. Cyclists who are not afraid of cobblestone roads can rent a bike at various places over Potsdam. Note the location of the campus on top of a hill.

Travel to Potsdam

Potsdam main station is reached by regional trains and, coming from Berlin, by the suburban S-Bahn S7.

The nearest airport is Berlin-Brandenburg (BER), which offers direct flights to many places in Europe. Meanwhile, it is the only international airport in the Berlin region. Other flights go via e.g. Frankfurt or Munich. BER has a train station on the lowest floor, where the regional train RB22 goes to Potsdam main station ("Potsdam Hbf") every hour. A licensed taxi from Terminal 1 takes 40-60 minutes, depending on traffic, and costs around € 110. Be prepared to pay for the taxi in cash, as not all companies accept cards.
